For breaststroke I have a couple of focus points that people like to use to address the issues I mention:
Head position:
Arms:
Timing: Find a phrase or thought that delays the kick until you are streamlined.
Timing is very hard to change.
Most people need to swim very slow laps separating the phases of the stroke:
pull, streamline, kick;
and then try to keep that separation (for just an instant) between streamline
and kick.
