Arms. Your setup is pretty good, but you get your arms very deep for the pull. See the the Mastery - Catch & Pull page, and note how early in the stroke cycle the swimmer gets her hand and forearm vertical in the water. Practice any of the catch and pull drills on the Video Clips - Arms page. |

Kicking. You are bending your knees too much. This leaves your thighs deep in the water (creating extra drag) and means you are kicking with a short lever (from the knees down instead of the whole leg). Practice your kicking technique out of the pool - lie on your belly, and practice lifting your whole leg using your glutes (instead of just your shins using your hamstrings) - see Dry Kicking for Freestyle and Backstroke. | |||
