This topic applies for Linux (Red Hat or SUSE) systems only, and only when the K-Tap local monitoring mechanism has been installed. If you upgrade the Linux kernel, you will need to install the correct K-Tap module for that kernel.
You need to Contact Guardium Support al least two weeks prior to upgrading your kernel, and notify Guardium of the planned upgrade. Guardium Support will provide you with an updated K-Tap modules bundle (tgz file) that will contain a K-Tap module for your new kernel. The bundle file should be placed in /tmp/ (on the database server). S-TAP will apply the new K-Tap module for the upgraded kernel the next time the server reboots with the new kernel.
