Open Water Programs

Breakwater Sports conducts pool based open water programs at the MIT Zesiger Center pool in Cambridge, Massachusetts (see below).

There will be no outdoor open water programs in 2012. It has become too difficult to schedule these and obtain the necessary permits.

Note: Former students and friends are welcome to join me for my personal open water workouts at various locations in MA, FL, CA (or wherever..).
No coaching, just a workout with Coach Bill.

Pool Based Open Water Swimming Program (Zesiger Pool, MIT)

This pool based program is intended for triathletes and other open water swimmers. It is provided at the Zesiger Pool at MIT in Cambridge, which is set up for 50 meters during summer, and 25 yards the remainder of the year. The program is open to the general public, and is limited to 10 swimmers. You do not have to be fast, but this program is not for newer swimmers. You should be able to swim 200 yards of freestyle continuously, as many of the sets will include 200 yard repeats.

Cost: Varies according to the number of classes in the course: about $6 per class for DAPER members, about $15 per class for non-members (DAPER = MIT Department of Athletics, Physical Education & Recreation).

To Register. These programs are taught at the MIT Zesiger Center pool. Click the course name below to be redirected to the MIT registration system (which will be opened in another browser window).
