Video Stroke Improvement - Session 4

Goals. First we will review how each swimmer is doing with their set of prescribed drills. Then we will review the setup drills performed last week. Finally we will work through a set of drills that focus on the catch and pull.

Pool Warm-up & Review Sequence

50 yards each (get every setup just right):

  • 6-1-6
  • 6-1-6 Broken Arrow
  • 6-1-6 Sharkfin
  • 9-3-9
  • Freestyle

Catch and Pull Drill Sequence

Have a look at the Arms and Underwater video drills page. Most of these clips focus on the catch and pull.

  • Kickboard Single Arm Drill (focus on separate stages: point, pop, press)
  • Underwater Recovery Freestyle (look forward and watch your catch)
  • Single Arm Drill - unused arm out front
  • Single Arm Drill - unused arm at side
  • Single Arm Drill with Hand Paddle - unused arm out front
  • Single Arm Drill with Hand Paddle - unused arm back at side
