Presentations

1: Building a Triathlon Swim Program

Barbara Hummel

You know how to train and coach on land, but the pool is another universe. Coach Barbara Hummel describes how you can build a swimming program that's a magnet for triathletes as well as potential triathletes. Her New Hampshire team has nearly tripled in size since 2003 by catering not just to triathletes but also to Masters swimmers, fitness swimmers, and tri wannabes who need lots of hands-on instruction. Barbara will talk about the drills, the sets, and the philosophy that seem to make all these groups happy, and that has brought more people into the sport of triathlon.

Barbara Hummel is a USAT Level 1 coach, head coach of a Masters swim team, a marathoner and triathlete, and a Masters national champion in swimming. She writes, edits, and produces videos for GoSwim.tv, and has directed swimming clinics and week-long triathlon training camps.

2: Take a Triathlon Vacation!

Pascale Butcher

No, we're not talking about a month of just doing nothing at the end of the season. Coach Pascale Butcher has taken her Connecticut based triathlon training group on a training, travel and racing expedition to France. She'll tell you how it's done.

Pascale Butcher is co-founder of Trifitness LLC, a multisport fitness and event management company. She is a USAT Level 2 Coach, N.A.S.M. and A.C.E. certified personal trainer, a successful competitive runner and triathlete, and a member of Team USA. She has been a USAT All American since 2003.

3: Real-Life Training for Real-Life Triathletes

Jason Gootman and Will Kirousis
